If you are reading this, you are lucky. As of writing this, I have no intentions of sharing this post.
I am Cabin, a former Grand Prior of the Templar Empire. I led for a substantial portion of 2022. As I led alongside Xing, Nicky, and others, the army saw countless war victories and a historical tournament win. Furthermore, I spent a great amount of time recruiting, registering, and advising the Emperor to ensure a stable and powerful empire.
I must say that it takes supreme effort to be in any position. We each have duties. Regardless of the position you fill, you are expected to lead yourself more than anyone. If you fill a leadership position and lack an ability to lead yourself, you are a failure. Let it be clear that this post is not a guide on how to be able to lead yourself because this path is different for everybody. This is, however, an informative piece teaching the four qualities needed to properly lead yourself and, subsequently, your subordinates.
Dozens of qualities can differentiate exceptional leaders from average or poor leaders, but I believe these four are the most important:
Courage
“Courage is not the lack of fear. It is acting in spite of it.” – Mark Twain
Courage is one of the most important values of a great leader. Although we tend to see conflicts for who wins and loses, you should see them for who is the most and least courageous. Physical strength is pretty, but mental strength is beautiful.
Patience
“Patience is the greatest of all virtues.” – Cato the Elder
You cannot expand an empire militarily or physically without patience if you desire sanity. If victory in any capacity is your goal, you must be patient with your subordinates. Regardless, you must be patient with yourself above all others.
Will
“If you will it, it is no dream.” – Theodor Herzl
But what is it worth if you do not will it? To want is to want a thing, but to will is to eat, breathe, and sleep a thing. If you will to become or maintain a superpower, nothing and no one can stop you except yourself.
Respect
“There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” – Fred Rogers
One of the most important values a leader can have is respect. Respect creates trust in yourself, morale among your troops, and valuable relations with other nations. Subsequently, it would not be difficult to protect your empire in a time of conflict.
To conclude this post, I must reiterate that it is just as important to apply these values to yourself as it is to apply them to your subordinates.
If you are from the Templars, I recommend adopting these principles into your career, regardless of the rank you are currently residing in.
I must say that I do not expect everyone who will read this post to be from the Templars. I do not expect everyone who considers practicing these values to be from it either. I do not care where you are from. These qualities can improve your army, but they can improve yourself too.
With that, this was my last post on the Templars website. This is the last time some of you hear from me. I hope you took something away from this.
